Acme Propellers: Highly precise ski props

Acme propellers are known for their precision and high quality, as the manufacturing is handled by highly qualified professionals, innovative computer technology, and the latest machinery. The company, Acme Marine has consistently delivered the best propellers for almost any application, and users have discovered the true potential of their boats after fitting these propellers.

What makes Acme Propellers Unique?

Acme propellers do not require any kind of tuning or adjustments, before you fit them on to the boat. The reason behind this is their highly precise machining process. The milling is done by CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machines that ensure the highest degree of accuracy. In comparison the finishing of other propellers is done by hand, which cannot achieve the precision of a computer-controlled machine, and hence they have to be fine-tuned before installation.

Secondly, the complete manufacturing process of Acme propellers, right from designing to final roll out of the product is optimized with the latest engineering techniques. Highly qualified engineers who are experts in marine propulsion, size and create the optimal design required for the specific application. The best grades of metals according to military specifications are used to manufacture the props, to ensure the highest quality. Acme Marine has perfected their casting process with over 70 years of experience. This precision casting combined with the CNC milling, eliminates the need of hammering, grinding, or welding the metal. The result is a highly accurate surface finish that cannot be achieved with tradition methods.

The entire manufacturing process is done under strict process controls, and each stage is handled by highly qualified personnel. To maintain the integrity of the process and quality of materials, the company does not outsource any work, and the whole process is handled within the US.

There is a wide range of Acme propellers available in different sizes. Each propeller is clearly marked with the specifications and size details. The first number you find in a clockwise direction is a four digit Part Number, and next to it is the dimensions, according to Diameter x Pitch. Next to this, you will find R or L letter signifying the right or left direction of rotation, and the last reading is the shaft diameter.

Acme propellers are highly precise and of the best quality, which will bring out the full potential of a boat or application. If these propellers are damaged due to any reason, it is imperative to find a repair facility that has sophisticated scanning equipment or the right pitch blocks, to ensure the propeller is restored to its original design and shape.

Acme Boat Propellers

The way your boat rides the waves on lakes or the sea depends on the quality, reliability, and performance of your propeller.  Acme boat propellers, all consistently manufactured to correct and accurate specifications, are made only in the United States. Since 1996, Acme has manufactured their inboard propellers with metals of absolutely the finest grades and manufactured them to military specifications.  These two factors combine to produce excellent three or four blade products with zero to very few defects or customer returns.  Your Acme boat propeller comes completely ready for installation with no adjustments required.

Quality and precision in manufacturing is provided by the Computer Numerically Controlled  (CNC) process Acme uses, which produces propellers with the correct cup, pitch, and diameter for each engineered design.  Their CNC milling machinery provides extremely precise means for removing metal. By eliminating the need for hand-finishing, Acme boat propellers eliminate one possible variable on a boat’s performance.  The manufacturers can “dial-in” and change any or all elements in increments.  In this manner, Acme develops the perfect propeller for any particular model and make of boat.  Because they are precision machined and well engineered, their propellers are consistently smooth in their performance on the water and very efficient.

Acme boat propellers are produced for use with water ski and wake board water crafts as well as for pleasure boats, sport fishing boats, and cruisers. These props can come in up to 48 inches in diameter and there are hundreds of sizes in stock. The company also produces surface piercing propellers made to withstand the heavy demands of boating at high speeds. Reinforced blade sections are provided to withstand high impact forces. These props are tough and durable. Their engineers are well trained and highly knowledgeable about all things pertaining to marine propulsion.  They can also design a propeller for any requirement or application you have.

The company also offers spare props for sale and their special Weekend Saver repair kits. These kits come in two different types. One is the Traditional, which contains a traditional C clamp puller, cotter pin, nylock nut, key, wrench, pliers and heavy duty carrying case.  The Harmonic Puller Kit contains a harmonic puller, nylock nut, key, pliers, wrench, cotter pin, hammer, and heavy duty bag for a space prop. These kits are very handy for quick repairs that will see you on your way instead of ruining your day’s boating opportunity.

Repairs can be handles locally if your facility has the right pitch blocks that are made for Acme props or the appropriate scanning devices. You may also call Acme on their toll free number to receive a return number and return address and the company will make needed repairs for you. Enjoy excellent boating opportunities with the use of an Acme boat propeller that is well designed and accurately constructed to work with consistency and excellence.

Acme Propellers are top notch ski props

Acme has been designing, manufacturing and selling their boat propellers for small pleasure craft and yachts since the mid-1990s and have not only developed excellent standards in customers care since that time, but have also worked hard to make Acme boat propellers the best in the business.

All of the products sold by Acme have been designed and manufactured in their own US facilities to ensure quality control. It is even possible for the company to make tiny changes to any aspect of a standard propeller design – either in diameter, pitch or cup, to create a perfect fit for the customer’s vessel and his requirements. Because Acme boat propellers are all produced in-house, these changes will not delay the order and will not involve any significant price increase.

Suppliers all over the country are finding that customers are requesting Acme propellers, thanks to the reputation the company has developed for both quality and performance. Thanks to Acme’s own research and development team, the company is constantly looking for new innovations that will improve their propellers and consequently the performance of your boat in the water.

Acme makes propellers for all kinds of vessels, from water ski and wakeboard boats to props for cruisers and sport fishing craft. Within these very different and specific designs, several different sizes of propellers are available to customers to suit their own individual vessel; and, of course, thanks to Acme’s US-based manufacturing facilities, it is simplicity itself to make any changes to the standard measurements in order to maximize efficiency and performance.

And once you have bought Acme boat propellers, the excellent customer service does not stop there. Acme also offers propeller repair services if you can not find a suitable facility in your local area, or if you only trust your Acme propeller with the experts who manufactured it. Any problems with your purchase, and the Acme staff are available to talk you through solutions to make sure you and your boat can get out on the water as quickly as possible.

You can even buy emergency repair kits from Acme to keep in your boat in the unlikely event that something goes wrong with your existing propeller, halting your plans for a weekend on the water. The two kits available include essential tools for basic maintenance and the specialist tools you might need if you end up having to attach your spare prop after all.

Acme takes care of your boat propeller purchase from start to finish, understanding the importance of a good quality prop to the vessel’s performance and to your enjoyment.

Understanding Acme Propellers

Many boaters find themselves in a similar position when it comes to replacement Acme boat props.  They may not understand how to make sure that the Acme boat propellers they are looking at are indeed the right units for the motors they have installed on their own marine watercraft.  The differences from one propeller to the next may not be completely apparent to the naked eye, which is why it is important for boaters to consult a comprehensive listing of Acme propellers.  Such a listing will provide boaters with detailed information about the specifications that various propeller models offer.

These specifications are key for not only boating enthusiasts who simply seek to replace their existing propeller, but also for those who are looking to improve boating qualities such as fuel efficiency or performance, whether it relates to tight cornering, rapid acceleration, or improved top speeds.

Some of the specifications that boaters will need to look at include diameter and pitch.  Diameter, of course, is a basic measure of the size of the propeller itself.  Pitch is a measurement that is a little bit more difficult to grasp, as it relates more to what the prop can do than to how it visually looks.  The pitch measurement of a propeller tells a boater how “far” through the water the propeller will tend to move with each full rotation of the blades.  Pitch is actually measured as movement through a soft wood because this eliminates issues such as wave motion that may interfere with the actual pitch boaters will get to enjoy from their propellers.

All About Acme Propellers

Boaters interested in Acme boat props have several different varieties from which to choose.  The Acme 1218, for example, measures 12.5 x 10.5, with the first number representing diameter and the second number indicating pitch – the standard way to render propeller measurements.  The Acme 1604, in contrast, has the same diameter but one more inch of pitch and features a .060 cupping measurement as opposed to the .080 measurement for the 1218 unit.

Also featuring .060 cupping is the Acme 1209, which has the same diameter as both of the other Acme boat propellers but features 12 full inches of pitch.  It should also be noted that the 1218 and 1604 have right-handed rotation while the 1209 has left-handed rotation, a distinction that can be important, particularly when watercraft feature two propellers.

Acme propellers are manufactured by the Acme Marine Company, which uses a CNC process to reproduce accurately the exact diameter, cup, and pitch desired for each unit.  With a CNC system, incremental changes are made possible, which explains the small gradations seen from one propeller to the next.  This type of system is essential if boating enthusiasts are going to have a propeller that truly fits all the design specifications that will allow them to make the most out of the boating experience.

Acme propellers enjoy a very low return rate, which indicates high customer satisfaction with the finished product.  Their operation is considered smooth, and perhaps best of all for many American consumers, the propellers are wholly made and manufactured inside the United States.

Excellent Ski Propeller Choices

Several different kinds of ski propellers exist to provide a water skiing experience that will be enjoyable for all.  Water skiing requires a powerful motor that can rapidly reach full power, and this requires the right kind of propeller.  Without that, when the water skier yells, “hit it!” he or she will merely be dragged along the surface of the water instead of being able to stand up on top of the skis to slide and skid along the surface.

Ambush Ski Props

The Michigan Wheel line of Ambush ski propellers uses a machining process known as CNC.  This process was developed by Michigan Wheel during the 1980s to guarantee a completely accurate propeller in all specifications and dimensions that will function as intended.  CNC originally applied only to the fabrication of custom propellers intended for large yachts and other luxury vessels. Over time, it has become a standard for many propeller series including the Ambush line.  Michigan Wheel offers a limited lifetime warranty on all Ambush ski props.

Acme Ski Propellers

Acme ski props are manufactured of durable nibral and are 100% American-made.  Available in both three- and four-bladed varieties, Acme also uses a “computer numerically controlled” manufacturing process to ensure optimal fabrication so that stated specifications are completely accurate and match the actual prop.

Dyna Jet Cupped from Michigan Wheel

Another Michigan Wheel ski prop choice is the Dyna Jet Cupped, which is specifically engineered to meet the needs of high-powered boats.  Dyna Jet props are made of nibral, an alloy of nickel, bronze, and aluminum.

Acme Propellers Emphasize Quality

Acme Propellers are completely American-made and utilize U.S. labor for all phases of the development process, including engineering, fabrication, shipping, and verification and inspection.  This is not the primary reason why they are a favorite with boating enthusiasts, however.  Both pleasure boaters and those who use their crafts for business purposes appreciate the high quality and consistent attention to detail that is inherent in Acme Props.

The CNC Process

Acme uses a specialized method for manufacturing their props.  Known as CNC, the process allows line engineers to make tiny changes in any of the specifications of the propellers being fabricated.  Specifications that can be “dialed in” in this way include pitch, cup, and diameter.  The result is an ability to make incremental changes and test for quality until many individual models of boat have an ideal propeller to match, one that helps them reach optimal efficiency.

Acme Propellers are also known for their smoothness of operation.  Available diameters for these inboard propellers range from 12 inches to 13.5 inches with pitch ranging in value from 12.5 to 17.5 inches.  Different degrees of cup are also available.  For example, the ACME-1279, a three-bladed propeller, features 13.5 inches of diameter, a pitch measurement of 15.5 inches, and a cup of .105.  Another propeller with three blades, the ACME-1747, has an identical diameter but offers more pitch – a full 17.5 inches per rotation cycle.  The 1747 model also has a higher cup value at .150.
