Michigan Wheel Apollo stainless boat propellers
When you buy an Apollo Propeller from Michigan Wheel, you can be sure that you are buying a piece of top quality equipment for your boat. But why is it so important to have a top quality propeller? The function of the propeller is clear from its name. The propeller is designed to propel the boat backward, forward, or in whatever direction you need to go. A propeller not only needs to be powerful to move your boat, but it also has to be built with precision and expertise. The better designed your propeller, the better your boat will run and the more control you will have over your ride. Additionally, a top quality propeller is durable and will last longer than one that is cheaply made. As a boater, you may occasionally find yourself in a sticky situation. Your ability to get out of a bad situation can depend largely on the quality and durability of your propeller.
The Apollo XHS Propeller
Michigan Wheel sells some of the most popular high-quality boat propellers on the market, such as the line of Apollo XHS propellers. Even in the world of top notch boating equipment, these propellers are unique. They come in three different models that include customizable features such as the three or four blade design, made to improve hole shot when carrying heavy loads or being used for water sports. No matter what propeller you get, however, you will be sure to appreciate the highly polished stainless steel used to make every model. The polish on the steel is not only attractive, but it increases the propeller’s glide and ability to shed water when it is being used. This stainless steel is designed for top performance.
Every Apollo XHS has two things that make it unique. First is its ability to be used with both outboard and sterndrive applications. Propellers from Michigan Wheel come in an array of sizes that include 30-7 0 HP and V6/V8 OBSC. The smaller diameter propellers are more than powerful enough for smaller boats, or even mid sized boats carrying light loads. The larger diameter propellers, on the other hand, are perfect for large boats carrying heavy loads and boats that are tugging or being used in water sports. Second, these Apollo XHS propellers are included in Michigan Wheel’s line of Xchangeable Hub System propellers, which means that they are interchangeable with the Mercury Flo-Torq II system propellers. They are truly some of the most versatile propellers on the market.
Michigan Wheel’s Apollo Stainless Boat Propeller
A three- or four-blade Apollo boat propeller can be one of the best choices for a replacement or spare prop on a private boat. A recreational boat that sees infrequent use typically uses a three-blade propeller like the B or D series of the Apollo technology. These are best for top-speed runs and ‘hole shot’ that gives acceleration. A larger boat or a boat that has heavier cargo, such as bass boats or high performance hulls, a four-blade prop tends to be a better option, as they have less steering torque and vibration that causes problems navigating at higher speed.
While most boats tend to come out of the factory equipped with aluminum, due to the lower cost, Apollo propeller designs are all manufactured with stainless steel. While this is more costly, it also has a longer shelf life and gives stronger performance than an aluminum prop. Both can last many years with minimal maintenance, but over the long term a stainless steel propeller will outperform an aluminum choice. All Apollo XHS models are stainless steel that can be taken through any condition on the open ocean. A propeller made from Die-Cast usually cannot be repaired at all, given that it is too brittle — a steel replacement is far superior. There are no advantages to plastic propellers, and a steel unit greatly outperforms these models.
All Apollo boat propeller models have rubber cushions. This does not prevent damage to the blade, but rather protects internal parts by reducing the force of propellers impacts. This keeps the drive pins from breaking or shearing off during the shock exerted from shifting gears. The XHS Hub system on all Apollo units make them interchangeable with Mercury Flo-Torq systems, so that they can be put in and out as an owner desires to adjust performance or do repairs. They function for the majority of sterndrive and outboard applications, with sizes ranging from thirty to seventy horsepower and V6 or V8 engines. The large diameter propellers on the D series can service even larger engines. Their quality build and blade array design make them a quality choice for any boat owner.
Evinrude Boat Propellers Work with Many Engines
Evinrude propellers provide a quality marine propulsion solution appreciated by boating enthusiasts in not just the United States but also Canada and the United Kingdom as well. There is a wide variety of Evinrude props available to suit a variety of boating applications, and each of these props works with a stunning selection of Evinrude engines, giving boaters who choose Evinrude boat propellers a wide range of options. This allows for a large degree of customization without ever leaving the Evinrude line.
The Apollo 993023 Evinrude Propeller
To take just a single example, the Apollo 993023 Evinrude propeller works with more than a dozen different Evinrude engines. Among these are the 90 horsepower, thru hub exhaust engine and the 90 horsepower V6 Gearcase engine with thru hub exhaust. The Apollo model also coordinates with the 2.6 and 3.6 liter Evinrude engine, as well as 100 horsepower commercial engines featuring a 15-tooth spline.
The Vortex 992006 Evinrude Propeller
Vortex aluminum propellers produced by Evinrude also work on a large number of different engines. The Vortex 992006, for example, works with all the engines specified for the Apollo 993023, but also works with Evinrude’s 115 horsepower engine with a 15-tooth spline and the 120-140 horsepower engine with the same spline. In addition, the Vortex 992006 works with 140 and 150 horsepower motors produced by Evinrude, including the 150 horsepower commercial motor made by the company.
Evinrude propellers provide boating enthusiasts with a large range of alternatives as they consider the best solution to their propulsion needs.
Michigan Wheel Apollo Props
Apollo props used with outboard motors come in three basic varieties and are known by their series designation of A, B, of C. However, no matter the number of blades and other differing specifications, all Apollo propellers in the XHS line share some basic features that are key to this entire line of high quality outboard propeller.
Apollo XHS propellers are manufactured from stainless steel and are highly polished in order to deliver excellent and long-lasting performance. These propellers – available in a wide range of sizes that feature different diameter and pitch — can be used with most outboard motors, but interestingly enough, they are also suitable for use with sterndrive motors. The blade geometry has been designed using advanced CAD (computer aided drafting) principles in order to deliver peak performance.
Michigan Wheel Apollo Props are available in three- and four-bladed varieties. Boating enthusiasts should be aware that the four-blade design is recommended for water craft carrying heavy loads and is also an appropriate choice for all kinds of water sports, such as water-skiing, which requires a great deal of rapid acceleration. For very heavy applications, a large diameter propeller is advised, since the greater surface area of the blades is an advantage in this situation.
The XHS hub system is particularly useful for some boaters because with this system, Apollo props can be readily interchanged with the Flo-Torq II system from Mercury.
Available Sizes
Apollo props vary from 12″ to 23″ of pitch depending on the motor installed.
