This mooring bit is cast molded; it is not welded from solid stainless stock. Looks great outside; nice clean, smooth finish. Inside the hollow cavity is unfinished. This is to be expected, but there are two spots of significant porosity about a quarter-inch apart. Not sure how deep into the wall it penetrates or if it compromises the strength of the mooring bit when under load.
