The Boat Propeller Repair Option
For boating enthusiasts who are dissatisfied with the performance of their engines and propellers, sometimes the best solution is to purchase a completely new propeller that will be a better match. In many cases, however, an improvement in performance can be achieved by arranging for boat prop reconditioning or boat prop repair from a qualified [...]

Outboard Propeller Considerations: The Role of Counter-Rotation
Counter-rotation is only a consideration for those boating enthusiasts who have more than a single motor powering their water craft. With two Force outboard propellers, however, boaters may find that steering becomes an issue. When this happens it is usually an indication that both Force outboard props are rotating in the same direction. This causes [...]

Understanding Propeller Function
Boating enthusiasts who make regular use of their outboard engine and propeller do not always understand how a propeller actually works. They may have in mind the action of a fan because fans, unlike propellers, are often seen while in operation. A propeller working underwater is a more complex operation. A propeller represents the very [...]

A Guide to Tohatsu Outboard Propellers
The Tohatsu company manufactures more than a dozen different models of outboard motor. Propellers designed to work with Tohatsu outboard motors may be manufactured of aluminum or stainless steel. Aluminum is, by far, the more popular variety because aluminum propellers are both lightweight and relatively inexpensive. Tohatsu outboard propellers are best described in terms of [...]

Eliminating Cavitation
Boaters who know a great deal about propellers understand the importance of choosing one that will exhibit as little cavitation as possible. Nissan outboard propellers, like all marine propellers, are not completely immune to cavitation issues. However, when Nissan outboard props are correctly paired with an appropriate choice of motor, cavitation can certainly be minimized. [...]

Warning Signs: When You Need a New Propeller
Experienced boating enthusiasts know to check the physical condition of their boat, motor, and propeller on a regular basis – and they know how to recognize the warning signs that indicate it is time to look for a new propeller. Boaters may need to buy new Yamaha outboard propellers to replace their existing ones when [...]

The Number One Rule for Propeller Selection
Selecting the correct propeller for your boat is an important issue, but expert boaters know that above every other consideration, they should keep one thing in mind: a propeller is a potential match if it enables an engine to run at full throttle while remaining in the maximum rated range for revolutions per minute, or [...]

Mariner Outboard Propellers: Terms Used to Describe Blades
Novice boating enthusiasts may not realize the complex nature of a propeller blade, but those who have enjoyed their motorized boats for months or years have usually come to understand that outboard boat props are quite complicated. As such, they require precise engineering to render them into the correct shape that will have ideal characteristics [...]

Propeller Singing Remains Somewhat of a Mystery
Propellers are interesting objects. They are capable of propelling a marine watercraft at high speed, but they can also emit a high-pitched noise that experts term “singing.” All propellers can do this to one degree or another, including Mercury outboard propellers. The noise known as singing is not harmful in any way and does not [...]

What Makes The PSS Shaft Seal Different?
A mechanical seal is created by the contact of a turning surface against a stationary surface. In the case of the PSS Shaft Seal, the stationary surface is a carbon flange held in contact against a stainless steel rotor which turns with the shaft. The carbon flange is attached to the boat by a nitrile bellow which, with the help of water pressure, produces a constant contact between the carbon and the stainless steel ring. These type of seals are unaffected by engine motion or vibrations.
The result is a 100% watertight and totally maintenance-free seal.
