Because I installed the new coupling without safety wire on the set screw, the set screw backed out causing the shaft to move aft and become disconnected from the coupling. The reason I assembled without safety wired was that the set screw did not have a hole drilled in the head. I re-assembled with application of Lok Tite to the set screw threads. It continues to hold, but I am not yet confident that screw tightness will continue. The problem is not caused by poor alinement of the shaft to the transmission. It is clear to me that Buck Algonquin should manufacture with a safety wired holes in the setscrew and another of the coupling screws so that safety wire can be attached.
